Introduction
The Californian 42 Motor Yacht is a comfortable aft cabin motor yacht whose conservative profile has not aged much since she went into production in the mid 1980s. Unlike many modern aft cabin designs with a raised aft deck the Californian is actually a flush deck design which accounts for the high freeboard. Built on a solid fiberglass modified V-hull the Californian floor plan offers two large center line berths with ensuite heads a large salon area and a galley that will please even the most discriminating chef. The interior offers plenty of teak cabinetry and woodwork. All doors are solid walnut and most are louvered to aid in ventilation and several are pocket doors. Additional features include wide side decks a roomy flybridge with the helm forward and aft seating a bow pulpit and a radar arch. Well known to be a solid boat the Californian 42 will handle seas and a chop very well. The owners change of plans places LARK on the market. With her replaced fuel tanks and repowered with Volvo diesels and newer genset LARK will please even the most discriminating buyer.
Vessel Walkthrough
You can enter the boat from the port and starboard boarding gates or from the swim platform and up a ladder into the aft deck. The aft deck is huge and offers easy access forward via the wide side decks and up a few steps into the flybridge. The salon is through a sliding door and down 3 steps. To port is all walnut cabinetry and the entertainment center. To starboard is an L shaped 3 cushion settee and barrel chair. The salon windows have venetian blinds and cornices. Aft and along the starboard side is a shelf area. From the port side and down 3 steps you enter the master cabin. Along the port side of the steps is a sliding door with access to the combination washer/dryer. The master features a center-line queen berth with a vanity 3 hanging lockers and 11 storage drawers and an ensuite tiled head with separate shower stall. Back to the salon and down 3 steps is the galley and dinette area. To port is the U shaped galley offering double stainless steel sinks with garbage disposal ample storage areas and cabinets 3 burner stove and oven and newer refrigerator/freezer. The convertible dinette is to starboard and offers seating for at least 6. Further forward is the guest stateroom with a center-line queen berth hanging locker and a tiled ensuite head with separate shower stall.
Galley
The galley is down on the port side with an adjacent convertible dinette. Engine Details & Mechanical Equipment
Engine room can be accessed through salon floor or by lifting the steps to the galley area. The engines were repowered with Volvos and the old steel fuel tanks were replaced with aluminum tanks in 2005. Additionally the shaft and propellers where changed as well.
